Raccoons

The Raccoon (Procyon lotor) is a medium-sized mammal native to North America, Central America, and northern parts of South America. Its range includes the Canadian Arctic, the Western United States, Mexico, and Central America. It was introduced in Germany’s Black Forest region in 1929 for hunting purposes but has since spread into France, Switzerland, and Italy. The raccoon is usually nocturnal or semi-nocturnal. It will eat almost anything it finds on the ground with which it can extract enough water to satisfy its thirst; common foods include insects, earthworms, crayfish, frogs, and eggs.
